Why you need to advertise on social media

If you’re a brand, business, or someone who has something needing to be seen, shared or shouted from the rooftops in 2022, you already know the #1 place you need to go to make it happen…

Social media. (‘Duh Kade”, I hear you say)

But what you might not have yet considered, or, in fact, have considered but have your reservations about, is social media advertising.

You see, in 2022 just being present on social media is no longer enough if you want to harness the true power of the platform… you know, things like incredible brand awareness, direct sales, leads, brand visibility and cold hard cash added to your P&L.

(…And In fact, if you’re only on social media ‘organically’ at this point in time, you’re only reaching about 5-10% of your followers anyway… but that’s a story about the algorithms for another time.)

By harnessing the power of social media advertising, you can gain an incredible advantage over your competitors, and do so in the most cost-effective way possible. Here are some stats to show exactly what I mean:

  • A study by Forbes shows the 78% of salespeople using social media outsell their peers.
  • Through social media advertising in Australia alone you can reach 18 million people.
  • 89% of consumers say they will buy from a brand they follow on social media and 84% say they will choose that brand over a competitor.
  • 50% of small businesses aren’t using social media advertising – which is alarming, but it also means that if you choose to do so, you have an incredible competitive advantage. (Stats from Clutch Research)

And the list of benefits seriously goes on and on.

But I am not going to beat around the bush. So many small businesses are worried or hesitant to get on social media because of one thing. They’ve been burned before or know someone who has. Wasting money on ineffective campaigns, ‘boosted’ posts or trying to DIY when they don’t have the experience or expertise to get results.

You see, social media advertising is beyond effective when done right and is arguably the most powerful selling tool in the world. And when you work with a person who knows how to bring all the moving parts together?  It can work overtime for your business.

If you’re truly wanting to harness success like the stats above, you need to work with someone who knows how to combine strategy, targeting and the creative elements together to turn as little as $5 a day into a supercharged selling and promotional machine for your business.

And I’d love that someone to be me, of course, but even if it isn’t then my best piece of advice is this:

Find yourself an agency who don’t just have experience in ads, but in branding, in strategy, in creativity and in copywriting. Because if one of those elements of your campaign is missing, you won’t reap the incredible rewards you otherwise could.

But beyond anything else, this year, make it your commitment to stop holding your business back by avoiding social media advertising, and dip a toe (or a foot) in the water to see the incredible returns it can bring.
